Our Story

Jonny Williams, founder of BoomBocs, was born in the rural countryside of Pembrokeshire, West Wales. His deep-rooted passion for music, in conjunction with his extremely technical brain means Jonny understands the vital link between music and science. This informed knowledge (and ability to apply it practically) has proven extremely beneficial to his work as both a sound engineer and designer of BoomBocs.
Jonny’s reputation as a very in-demand sound engineer has meant he’s been hired by a variety of high-profile artistes from countries far and wide. Live productions facilitated by Jonny range from stadiums, arenas and festivals, to radio and TV appearances. Recent clients include Stormzy, Kylie Minogue, Thundercat, Freya Ridings, Anastacia, Maribou State, Rita Ora, Wu Tang Clan, All Saints, Liam Payne, RAYE, Jessie Ware, Pendulum and James Arthur.

Jonny’s initial concept was to recycle vintage suitcases and turn them into portable sound systems. It was nothing more than a simple plan to kill time whilst he wasn’t on tour. The suitcase speakers were so simple, they weren’t even equipped to stream music wirelessly. Instead, you would merely plug your music-playing device in via a 3.5mm auxiliary cable. This was back in the day when phones and laptops still had jack outputs.

Frequent visits to the local DIY shop, scratches and holes made into the dining table, and a lot of technical reading took Jonny on a journey that lasted years, infuriating his friends and family, but ultimately paving the way for what is now a very advanced wireless speaker system.
