We’ve really focused on creating a product that highlights the artistry of the music being played. That’s why we’ve taken years to design and develop this well-oiled machine. We’re on a mission to build a speaker system that actually sounds good! Plus, with BoomBocs, you don’t have to choose between looks or sound quality.

From start to end, BoomBocs has been under the strict guidance of real music industry professionals. Audio quality is ALWAYS the number one priority here at BoomBocs, so we took years to design and test prototypes before finally producing the BoomBocs you see today.
It's not the kind of speaker to give you the 'boom boom pow' you might experience at a large festival. It's also not the kind of speaker that's going to rattle your windows with heavy, unatural bass response. It's the kind of speaker that is clear and delivers music (and speech) as the artist intended. -
All BoomBocs products come standard with WiFi and Bluetooth integration, capable of streaming high-quality audio. Whether you’re Team Apple or Team Android, you just have to download the app to connect directly to your BoomBocs. The app supports streaming applications like Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music, as well as internet radio, giving access to over 20,000 worldwide stations. You can also connect physically via auxiliary minijack or USB.

Everyone's perception of 'what is loud' will be different. A common myth relating to speaker output is to boast about Wattage. It really doesn't matter what the power rating is but if you insist....
There’s a 10 Watt Class-D amplifier built in to STUDIO, delivering sheer awesomeness over 4 Ohms. The input stage is just as important to ensure the sound quality is maintained throughout the circuit. To ensure we protect signal flow from start to finish, and therefore maintain the best sound possible, we use audiophile-grade components. -
In theory, yes but that's not really what it's designed for.
You could plug in an instrument via a series of adapters, as long as you end up with a 3.5mm minijack connection to go into the aux input.
Depending on the output strength of whatever it is you're plugging in, you may or may not get a decent volume. Ideally, you should be sending 'line level' signal into the aux input.
Confused? Good. We don't advise plugging in instruments. -

When operating in battery mode and the unit is turned off, power is removed from the internal module. As the device does not have a real-time clock built in (RTC), there is no way to maintain the clock count when the device is off. Once switched on, the module reverts to its default time (0:00) until it gets a network connection and able to get the internet time.
This issue will not happen when mains powered as the module remains powered and the clock stays on. -
Sometimes if the local airwaves are saturated with wireless networks or the WiFi you want to connect to is unstable, the BoomBocs starts up, battles with the WiFi and then gives up trying to connect because there are too many other things in the way.
The way to test this is to take the BoomBocs outside, away from the network and see if it starts up.
Another test is to do a factory reset, and skip connecting to a network. Go into Bluetooth, USB or Aux mode as you don’t need WiFi for these. See if it stays on - it should do. -
No, this is not normal and we did have reports of this happening in earlier BoomBocs STUDIO models. However, there's no need to panic...
On 19th January 2023 we released a software update (1C14) to fix this problem. Once updated to this version, your BoomBocs will reconnect to its last-paired Bluetooth device on startup.

We had some reports of the LED constantly flashing, especially in Internet radio mode, even if it was connect and the battery was charged.
We found this to be a bug in the software, which was fixed in an update released on 19th January 2023 (1C14).

When a new software update becomes available, your BoomBocs should prompt you to perform it via the onboard display and controls.
If not and you want to check for a new update manually, it's very easy. Make sure you're connected to a stable WiFi network and follow these steps via the top panel of the BoomBocs:
Menu > System settings > (scroll down) > Software update > Check now
Your BoomBocs will then take you through the rest of it.
*Make sure your BoomBocs is plugged into mains electricty and it remains that way until the update is complete*
